Comet Hyakutake. Picture shot at Lauttasaari, in middle of light pollution of the Helsinki metropolitan area. The green color at the left edge of the image is the result of digital filtering used to remove the background light. You'll understand the importance of filtering by looking what automatic photo printing made to the original image. In addition to the comet, the image shows the Big Dipper (bottom left) and Ursa Minor (top right). Field of view is about 60° × 40°.
Partial magnification of the same image. Field of view about 30° × 20°.
And a bigger magnification. Picture was shot without tracking, so the stars can be seen as lines due to rotation of the Earth. Field of view about 9° × 6°.
